Non-commercial Web pages are available at no charge to Dialup and Telnet-In Shell account holders. Please note that the Commercial Web Option or Virtual Web Server must be purchased along with a Dialup or Telnet-In account; these are not standalone products.

To sign up for a commercial service you will need to fill out the Datasync Extended Services Registration form (and InterNIC form for new/updated domains) which is included in our Registration Packet. The registration packet is also available via FAX. You can mail or FAX the forms back to us.

Commercial Web Option: Removes the restriction on commercial content. No restrictions on content as long as no applicable laws are violated. Adds 10 megabytes of disk space to shell quota. CGI access is available; all CGI source must be available to Datasync staff for security reasons. Includes one custom URL under http://www.datasync.com/ of your choice. Includes a link to your page from Datasync's Commercial and Organizational Links page. Access statistics provided as desired. Custom URL, Business Pages link, and access statistics are also available for your Secondary Accounts, excluding Mailbox Only.

Rates: $10.00/month, $5.00 one-time setup charge
Excess disk usage may be billed at the rate of $1.00/megabyte/month.

Virtual Web Server: Same as the Commercial Web Option above, but allows your Web pages to be accessed via a URL such as http://www.your_company.com, without the cost or hassle of maintaining your own Web server. UNIX and Windows NT servers available.

We will assist with domain registration. You are responsible for InterNIC's domain registration and maintenence fees.

Includes primary and secondary domain name service for your domain.

Rates: $20.00/month for each Virtual Web Server.
$30.00 one-time setup charge per Virtual Web Server.

Secure Web Option: This add-on to Commercial Web or Virtual Web service allows secure, encrypted communication between SSL (Secure Socket Layer)-enabled browsers and our SSL-enabled server. Secure documents and CGIs are accessed by URLs beginning with https:// instead of http://.

Virtual Web sites desiring secure service in their domain will need to purchase a digital certificate signed by a Certificate Authority (CA) such as Verisign or Thawte in order for your secure documents to be trusted by browsers.

Once you decide on a CA, Datasync will generate an unsigned digital certificate for your domain for you to submit to the CA for signing. The CA will also require proof of your business identity and ownership of your domain. Once completed, the CA returns the signed certificate to you, at which time we can activate your Secure Web Service.

A digital certificate is valid for a fixed period of time, usually one year. The CA will charge fees for setup and renewal or your certificate, for which you are responsible.

Rates: $25.00 one-time setup charge per site for SSL setup.
$25.00 additional setup charge for us to handle submission to the CA.

FTP Services

Anonymous FTP Service: Provides a directory for your use on our Anonymous FTP server, and adds 10 megabytes of disk space. Content unrestricted except for violations of applicable laws, including copyrights. Your URL will be ftp://ftp.datasync.com/pub/your_login.

Rates: $10.00/month, $5.00 one-time setup charge
Excess disk usage may be billed at the rate of $1.00/megabyte/month.

Virtual FTP Server: Same as Anonymous FTP Service but with a URL of ftp://ftp.your-company.com and a view of only your files, not those of any other site on our FTP server. You must have your domain registered with InterNIC. If not paired with Virtual Web Server, adds 10 MB of disk space to your account.

Rates: Free with Virtual Web service for the same domain.
$10.00/month without corresponding Virtual Web service.
$30.00 one time setup charge ($25.00 with Virtual Web for same domain)

SQL Services

MySQL Database Service: Provides access to a private database on our MySQL relational database server, and adds 10 megabytes of disk space.

Rates: $5.00/month, $25.00 one-time setup charge
Excess disk usage may be billed at the rate of $1.00/megabyte/month.

E-Mail and News Services

E-mail Auto-Responders: For automatic return of a text document to anyone sending mail to the auto-responder. Address is of your choice, in the form responder-name@datasync.com. Usage statistics and destination addresses provided as requested.

Rates: $5.00/month, $10.00 one-time setup charge

Mail Reflectors: For setting up mailing lists through which mail to many Internet addresses may be sent by mailing to the reflector address. Reflectors may be moderated (administrator approves submissions before sending to list) or unmoderated (subscribers may submit directly to the list). Subscriptions may be automatic or controlled by the list owner. Adding of addresses to a mailing list without the expressed consent of the addressee is strictly prohibited.

Rates: Starting at $10.00/month and $30.00 one-time setup charge

Virtual Mail Server: Allows you to receive mail addressed to your-login@your-company.com.

Includes primary and secondary name service for your domain (MX record only -- no address or PTR records).

Your primary e-mail box and those of any secondary accounts (see Secondary Accounts above) may be mapped to a single mailbox in your domain.

Rates: No monthly charge with Virtual Web or FTP service for same domain.
$10.00/month without corresponding Virtual Web or FTP service.
$30.00 (free with Virtual Web or FTP service for same domain) one-time setup charge

UUCP Mail/News Feed: An economical way for users of your network or bulletin board to send and receive Internet mail and/or Usenet News. You will need software for UUCP on your machine. We can route for your InterNIC-registered domain, but your own domain is not necessary. Without a domain your e-mail addresses will have the form user@your-machine.datasync.com.

Pricing is based solely on connect time, not throughput. There is no limit on the number of e-mail addresses on your network.

Rates: $15.00/month for 5 hours connect time/month
$30.00/month for 20 hours connect time/month
$45.00/month for 50 hours connect time/month
Additional connect time is billed as $3.00/hour in each case.
Setup charge is $20.00.

Shell Accounts

This account includes the same shell account as described under Dialup, but no dialup access to Datasync modem pools. You will have telnet, ftp, and pop3 access to your account. This service is only for commercial users not requiring dial-up access who are hosting a web site with Datasync and need access to edit content.

Restrictions on the number and types of background (daemon) processes run on the shell host do apply, as well as limits on server resource consumption for all processes. See the Acceptable Use Policy for current information.

Connect time is not metered.
