Looking for present cousins still living in the Caribou, ME area. Descendents of Magloire Bouchard. Will hopefully be visiting that area in October and would love to visit" Ruth "Bouchard" Earnshaw daughter of Leo James Ademar Bouchard. Also, any other family reunions.
Darryl Earnshaw,

I was following some of the entries about Medal Of Honor recipients who have been buried in Maine and discovered that one is missing from that list. Without checking Maine's entire list, I think he might be the only southern born and southern "entered into Union service". He is buried in Lewiston, ME. I have photos of his headstone and possibly one of him from about 1863, if you are interested.

Well, I'm not a Bouchard, but I was born in Maine, Skowhegan to be exact, graduated from Madison High School in 1952, left the state in 53 to join the Air Force, married a Mississipp Bell in 54 and with her at my side for 45 years I made a career of the Air Force and a civilian Contractor job before retiring completely in 1997. Elaine passed away in 1998. I broke the mold in the Thompson clan in Southern Maine when I moved south and married a southener. My Thompson family lineage stems from the Berwick area of Maine since 1630. I really enjoyed your site, but I must confess I would rather have seen the Southern Miss Golden Eagles on it than Mississippi State. That statement was made with the assumption that you have a good sence of humor. Seriously, it was great to see a Maine/Miss connection site. I'll be back, if I'm welcome as a Thompson.

Wow, Very interesting site. I was just surfing and did a search on my own name. It is very nice to see so many Bouchards south of the 49th. The greatest surprise was to see my little brother's (Luc) entry back in 1998. I always knew that the Bouchard family was spread all over Quebec, but to see so many "could-be" relatives in the U.S. opened my eyes to the reach of our family. A few years ago I got "OUR" family crest and "MOTTO" researched through the "House Of Heraldry". I gave it to my parents but I think I do have a copy somewhere around here, I will look for it and if anyone is interested I will email the information. Growing up in Quebec city (Neufchatel), I remember 20 to 30 Bouchards that attended the same school as I, yet the only "Direct" relatives were my brothers and my sister. It is very nice to see a site that my just bring us all together... One quick note to LCdr Richard Bouchard: "Fair Winds and A Following Sea" from a fellow Naval Service Member... Hi, I was born in Caribou on 25 June 1948 to Albert J. Bouchard and Laurette (Dionne, from Grand Ile). At the time my father was a potato and turkey grower on the North Caribou road. In fact, I understand that the old farmhouse is still in good shape (across VFW). My father died November 12, 1999, but my mother is alive, well and living in New York City. At the age of eight we moved to Brooklyn NY, where I grew up and went to Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School. After graduation I went to Central Connecticut State College (University) where I graduated in 1970 with a BS degree in marketing and economics. Due to the Vietnam War, after graduating from college I entered the United States Air Force. Flew B52 and KC135 aircraft (flew 17 combat sorties) as a Navigator and Bombardier, was an aircraft maintenance officer, a squadron commander in the Black Bird SR-71 Program, headquarters action officer, wing planning officer and director, Deputy Commander of a bombardment wing aircraft maintenance complex, etc. While in the Air Force I continued my education and eared a MBA in aviation management and a MAS (Master's of Aeronautical Science) both from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Retired from the USAF in 1990 and became a full time Instructor for the University of Maryland Asian Division in Business and Management a year latter. I was stationed on Guam at the same time you and your family were there. To bad our paths did not cross while you and your wife (St John’s Valley connection, she graduated from the same school my Mother did) were there. Am currently looking up my Bouchard side of the family (Dionne’s are completely and successfully researched to 1661, came from Nouvelle, France). My father, Albert James Bouchard (Nov 29, 1919 – Nov 12, 1999) his father’s name was John Bouchard and his Grandfather name was Pirrot Bouchard, and his great-grandfather’s name was Pierre Bouchard. Pirrot came from Frenchville, Maine. Would appreciate any information. Please e-mail me. Richard, you and Cynthia are to be commended for maintaining such a well-designed and historical site. Thank you.

I discovered your site by doing a search of Bouchards. I am also originally from "the valley". I was born in Madawaska in 1942. Our family moved to Millinocket when I was just four years of age. I was educated at catholic schools all the way through college. I graduated from the Univ. of Detroit(Jesuit run) in 1965. I am a Vietnam veteran. I left the Army with the rank of Captain in 1971. I've been married to Eileen (nee O'Sullivan) for 34 yrs. We have three children (29-32 yrs old) I retired from Ford Motor Co. Engineering Staff in June of this year. My parents Ludger and Annie Bouchard live in Florida and even in their eighties are active in their community. I'm interested in our roots but I'm not schooled in geneology. I would like to know more about our history. Your website is a very good example and I thank you for your efforts in providing it for us.

Just happened to look for the USS Skowhegan known only to my father as the PCE843 until 12 yrs ago, when I sent away for the history of this ship. William Filbert known as Willy the Oil King, Ship Swimmer, sailed as a member of the Plank Gang from Chicago to San Recife where somewhere in between he became a Shellback as she crossed the equator. I have a log book and diary of his oil readings and some ribald stories. He took me to see it at the Circle Line piers in Brooklyn while she was still dressed in gray. I have asked and found that she is not a circle line boat, but one of the older captains does remember her. My father is no longer with us, but with all you below deck sailors! Thank you all and anchors aweigh!

My husband and just moved to Ohio from Jackson,MS. We are both originally from Long Beach (since 1974). Both of our families still live there (Amick, Monson, my sister is now a Carver). We were married at St. Thomas (1991) and brought our 2nd and 3rd children down from Jackson to be baptized by Father Louie (1996 and 1998). We love Long Beach and St. Thomas and hope to be back in 3 or 4 years after my husband's training here at the Cleveland Clinic.

How strange to have discovered you... another Cynthia, with a daughter named Mireille ~ which is the name I had chosen for my own daughter, who was to have been a Bouchard, as well... Now that you are in Mississippi, you might want to visit French Settlement, LA (on the Amite River and bayou near Baton Rouge), where my grandmother grew up (speaking only French during her childhood). There's a little museum there, and they sell my grandmother's autobiography, "Back Roads and Bayous," which is full of fascinating stories of days gone by. (The book is available in other places too.) My parents live in New Orleans and on Georgetown Island, Maine. If you want to read some of my poetry, in French and English, you can find it at and the following pages linked from that one. And now I am off to look for your Mireille's poetry! Bonne chance à tout la famille Bouchard!

I was wondering if you are related to Lucian Bouchard(Quebec Prime Minister), because if you are, we are related. My last name used to be Bouchard until my great, great, great, great? grandfather moved to Minnesota from Canada. (Had to change the spelling to appease the German population.) Let me know if you are related to a Jacque Bouchard in any way.

I am president one of the presidents of the American Legion Aux here in VA. One of our ladies was a member of Unit 205 and Unit 132, both in ME. She has over 25 years in the Aux, but can't get any proof. I'm trying to get a URL for Dept of ME or either one of those legions. Found your site by doing a search of American Legion Aux Dept of ME. Would appreciate any help. Would really like to give this lady credit for all her years, as she is an excellent asset to our organizations. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thank you.
