Drowning in Life
by
Mireille Bouchard, 1998
Your window to the dark
beckons me to come,
to meet my fate.
the darkness of your world
surrounds me
it suffocates me
we build our lives on lies
we know,
but we close our eyes
to the world around us
we succumb to the misery
we give ourselves to the depression
and let it take us in it=s vice
I do not relieve myself of blame
I can only hope to save myself
from the black waters
that drowns my soul
I see others on the shore
so happy in the sun
and it makes me sink
farther and farther
into the abyss of emptiness
