The Church of Hawkwind
Griffin Records of Canada released many of Hawkwind's albums on CD format and made them available to us here in North America. One of the release was "Church of Hawkwind". This CD is Electronic space-rock at it's height (for the era). Brock goes crazy with his synths and tone generators. Not only is one of the most sought-for rare releases available to the common Hawkfan, but also, there are some extra tracks not found on the LP which was originally released in 1982. The most noteworthy addition is the song "Damage of Life" which previously, to my knowledge, was only on the Traveler's Aid Trust album. This in itself makes the CD valuable! The CD comes with booklet with all the lyrics and the lineup, of which there are several contributers, mainly: Brock but also the guitar sound of Lloyd-Langton, and we can't forget Bainbridge. To this day, I regret that these 2 guys left the band. I miss Lloyd-Langton's guitar! Another very noteworthy song is Star Cannibal - it is really great. I have already done this song on my 4-tracker in my "studio" and I love this song. Also, Nuclear Drive is very cool. Church of Hawkwind is definitely "mainstream Brock-influenced Hawkwind" and follows the sci-fi/space rock themes closely. If you like Brock, you will like "his" album. OK, let's go to church!

Here is an excerpt of an email I received from a Hawfan named Robert T. about his "experience while listening to The Church of Hawkwind....very trippy:
I'd like to share my ultimate experience with you or should I say in the " Church of Hawkwind".
Many years ago in the early '80s the only way I'd listen, truly listen to artist such as Hawkwind, Mike Oldfield , Steve Hillage, Tangerine Dream etc. would be stoned with black light etc. On this one occasion I put on " Church Of Hawkwind" laid back and let it take over. I remember being in a "ZONE" I'll call cloud 9. IT WAS PERFECT !!! I honestly don't believe I was on/in this world as we know it ! I went beyond the 10% of the brain power we normally use. It was COOL / KILLER etc. etc. etc. When my tape ended it WAS a suddened sock to return to this World. The Ultimate trip ! Maybe ? A year and a half or so later I was in the Navy kicking back in my room one day and decided to play "Church of Hawkwind". Put it in my tape
player, laid back and ................................

It was the most trippy thing my mind & Hawkwind has done to me and I'll never forget it ! It is one reason why any and I mean any synth / instrumental the Hawks do I can't disregard it as trival . It has the potential to take you to the next
level of your conscience.
Well there you have it...Hawkwind will get you high "naturally"....no artificial additives!!!
