"Featured Song" Lyrics: Spirit of the Age

Written by Brock and Calvert for the album "Quark Strangeness & Charm" released in 1977, the song typifies the sci-fi concepts that trademark the band. The song appears on several compilations and live performance albums. Don't confuse the song with two compilations of the same name! However I must say that sometimes Calvert's voice sounds a bit theatrical...with over-emphasis in the tones of his voice. There is a version of "Spirit of the Age" on an the Elite label (the compilation itself is called "Spirit of the Age"!) which I highly recommend. It is a live version very well done...I think Brock is singing it but it is difficult to tell. It was done in 1985 and I like it better than the original version from on "Quark, Strangeness & Charm". Oh, well...my opinion!
