The Cemeteries listed are located in West Stone County, MS (West of Highway 49). A few are located in the edges of adjoining counties and were included because of the family ties of this area. In some cases the cemetery's name is indicated on county records by name but there are many named by parcel number only. In some instances it does not even exist on county records.
Many hours were spent trying to give these cemeteries the correct name. It seems everyone differs on most of the names, so if anyone has the correct name please email: dladnier@datasync.com.
Again, I apologize for any errors made.
The area now known as Silver Run was originally called Riceville when it was part of Harrison County. In 1916 this community became part of Stone County which was formed from the Northern section of Harrison County. The community of Silver Run acquired it's name from an area school located in Pearl River County which was in close proximity of the Stone County line and served as the community's school until 1954.
Some cemeteries in this area reflect the names of the early pioneers who were instrumental in the settlement of this area of Mississippi. One old homestead settled by Elijah Ladner, m. Feb. 6, 1848 to Martha Bounds, built his home here about 1848-1850. In September 1998, this house is still standing, though not as proudly as it once was. The Ladnier Cemetery located on Ridge Road, about 1/4 mile West SouthWest of the old house, is located on the original homestead. Elijah's first wife Martha Bounds was buried here, Feb. 1865.
