Cats are our companions here at the Nelms home. They give us love without asking for anything in return. One of Elizabeth's favorite authors is Lillian Jackson Braun, creator of the 'Cat Who...' series.  We have had a lot of fun watching the little critters grow up.

The fowers pictured above came from our backyard. I have enjoyed working with small flower beds to get some very good results. It is hard work and back-breaking sometimes but the colors are well worth it. Elizabeth likes to purchase bulb and root plants from other parts of the country (NE, KS, MO) to see how they will do this far south. It is hard to pick out a favorite but I would have to say the Walking Iris (when in full bloom) yields a beautiful small flower. Each shrub-like bush can have 40-80 blooms on them. In the winter time the Sasanqua camellia and Japonica camellia are spectacular.
