Maggie Cat - Age 15

Born ca. 1987

"Friskie" was her name before she came to live with us.  And that name is VERY appropriate, even today.  We adopted her from the local pound in 1990 when she was 3 years old.

We named her "Magellan" and shortened it to Maggie after her constant expeditions to explore the house.  She conquered her world long ago and now "rules" over all her "subjects."

Here is a fun page of Maggie  watching TV.

John Handlebar Sullivan -- "Ziggy"

Born ca. 1999

Ziggy is a DSH -- Domestic Shorthair -- who has come to live with us from the Humane Society of Terrell County, Dawson, GA in July 2002.

He is a very gentle boy who minds his own business and loves to play with Rose.   We named him "John Handlebar Sullivan" after the famous boxer who sported a handlebar moustache.

Black Smoke Persian - Xerxes
b. ca 1996

Xerxes was advertised in the "Free" section of the newspaper.

When we picked him up, I took him straight to my vet to have him checked and altered, teeth cleaned, and vaccinations updated, etc.

These pictures were taken in June 1999.  Xerk loves attention which my daughter lavishes on him.

As you can see, six months later in December 1999, his coat was growing back and he had gained an appropriate amount of weight.  This comparison shows what "hormones" can do to a cat's condition.

As a young cat, he was a show cat under his registered name: Hellan's Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, and is a GC in CFA and Supreme GC in TICA.

Crimson 1999-2001

Crimson (Furkats Love is Crimson of Omaine) died under anesthesia while undergoing an exploratory surgery to rule out cancer / irritable bowel disease. It is not known whether she had a reaction to the anesthesia or not. The lab results of the exploratory revealed that she was struggling with Irritable Bowel Disease, which had been non-responsive to all steroid treatments. She was a very sweet girl and was the joy of our home. She is very much missed.
