body repair and update 101 !!!

Finally ready to start rebuilding.

Rear quarter in solar

Plate is son's joke.

Body support brace added at rear to prevent sag.

Before tearout and refitting.

Old interior at start of teardown. Console removed shows all-in-hand CB radio between seats.

Old interior has A-pillars and console removed.

Original seats and upholstery. Good shape but padding has sagged.

New interior.

Shows A-pillar instrument pod and JBL tweeter in headliner.

Dash refinish...

Correcting flaws in surface.

Needs Tach glass repaired.

Shoulder harness mount added.

New roll bar/roof support extended to frame in order to anchor harness mounting.

Old battery box area prior to rework. Box had separated from bulkhead.

Battery box after repair. Box was repaired and glassed again.

Engine compartment expansion..

on right to clear throttle bodies. It required cutting into the forward end of the battery box.

on left side. Sections of bulkheads moved out 2" and glassed back in.

Original engine compartment.

Fiberglass insulation has to be covered. It has deteriorated and may clog the A/C and oil cooler coils.

New engine compartment before A/C and oil cooler installation.

Firewall move.

Firewall also moved 2 inches to add clearance between secondary A/C coils and oil cooler to engine doghouse. Plywood is epoxied and glassed in for strength.

Left rear fender well.

After expansion, bulkhead sections are epoxied and fiberglas mat added for strength

Fitted with new side marker lights and sample color-match molding
