Jim and Inge Dahlhausen
Jim and Inge have been residing in Carriere, Mississippi for the past twenty years. Jim worked for 29 years as a Petroleum Geologist for Mobil Oil Corporation , retiring in 1986. Inge worked as a Physical Therapist at Ochsner's Foundation Hospital for thirty years after arriving in the country from Germany in 1948.
Both Jim and Inge have many hobbies but are currently devoting their time and efforts to Rocks and The Lapidary Arts. They are both members of the Pearl River Rock Club and the Harrison County Gem and Mineral Society. They create jewelry in gold and silver with Jim's faceted gemstones and Inge's cabochons and beads.
They actively support the William Holland School of Lapidary Arts in Young Harris, Georgia with both their time and money. Jim donates his time as an instructor in Faceting for two weeks in the spring and two weeks in the fall. Jim and Inge formed the J & I Handcrafted Jewelry Company as a means of selling their jewelry in order to create more items. You can only give so many items as gifts. Inge is the backbone of the company doing most of the design work and all of mounting, polishing and free form rock cutting. Jim occasional provides a faceted stone for the business in between his teaching. He also cuts slabs from most of the material they collect or purchase for the business.
Jim developed this website so that his students would have a place to check on the status of his faceting projects. There are several pages devoted to different phases of his faceting activities. These include his teaching schedule, the design and construction of the down-light, corrections to the Faceting Guide and etc. The following links take you to the individual pages:
