The Epilepsy Foundation of America is the national organization that works
for people affected by seizures through research, education, advocacy,
and service.
GOALS
- People affected by seizures will have an improved quality of life.
- The Epilepsy Foundation of America will be financially sound and growing.
- People affected by seizures will have easy access to reliable information.
- The Epilepsy Foundation of America will be recognized as the voice for
people affected by seizures.
- Research on seizures and epilepsy will be strengthened and broadened.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
In the conduct of all activities the Foundation and its affiliates shall:
- Operate according to accepted management principles and the highest ethical
standards for voluntary health agencies.
- Involve individuals with seizure disorders and their families as board members, volunteers, staff and advocates.
- Promote active involvement of individuals with seizure disorders in
decisions concerning their health care and other services.
- Make services and activities available to all.
- Design services to address the full spectrum of seizure disorders, from the
least to the most severe.
- Promote volunteer leadership and participation with broad representation
from all sectors of the community.
- Pursue opportunities to work in coalition with other groups.
- Promote access to and development of community services to meet the needs
of people with seizure disorders.
- Strengthen private sector and government support for programs.
