This page is a link to our interactions
with a partner school in Japan, ISHIKAWA JUNIOR
HIGH SCHOOL, in Mito City, Japan. It
springs from activities developed by the Fulbright Memorial Fund Master
Teacher Program.
Part of the project involves
a biodiversity study, in which students in Japan and the United States
collect insects from local areas, post the collection data to a web page,
and analyze the data. Schools in Japan are partnered with schools
in the United States, and both are expected to develop a relationship that
includes email correspondence and a video conference.
Our partners at
Ishikawa
Jr. High have worked with us to develop
a second project, water quality analysis. This project is currently
underway. The goal of these projects is to promote greater collaboration
and understanding among U.S. and Japanese participants.
OSMS is now being joined by
partner/advisors from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and The
University of Southern Mississippi through the Collaborative Technology
Infusion Teams grant.
Our partner/advisors include
Dan Zwerg of MSGCCC, Dr. Eric Luce and Dr. William Powell of USM.
