2000 - 2001 Season

October 14th @8:15 & 15th @2:15, 2000 The Vagabond King - A swashbuckling tale of 15th century France comes to life at the Saenger Theater. The story comes from the life of Francois Villon; poet, criminal, traitor and hero. He is, today, considered France's greatest lyric poet, but this story revolves around his involvement in saving Paris from an attack by Burgundians. Of course there is love, villainy, women and song, sword fights and everything else that makes a swash buckle. The performances will be conducted by the Opera's Artistic Director, Jane Long Hardin. Reserved seating tickets are $20 for adults and $6 for students at the door. Or get a season ticket for $50 and save $10!

November 3rd, 2000 @6:00 Annual Cabaret Dinner - This year features WLOX TV personality Karen Abernathy who played Liza Dolittle in the Opera's production of My Fair Lady. From the Great Southern Club overlooking the Mississippi Sound, enjoy the view, entertainment and superb cuisine for $50 per person. It's worth much more!

February 10th, 2001 @8:15 A Gala Evening with Raeschelle Potter - ONE PERFORMANCE ONLY - The incomparable Raeschelle Potter of the Vienna State Opera returns to the Biloxi Saenger. The program will include works by Verdi, Purcell, Bizet, and an excerpt from Marie Laveau, an opera written for Ms. Potter by recently deceased Gulf Coast Opera founder Dr. Laurence Oden. The concert will include a full orchestra and chorus to keep pace with this powerful singer. Reserved seating tickets are $20 for adults and $6 for students at the door.

March 10th, 2001 @7:00 St. Patrick Goes to Mardi Gras - Our 6th Annual St. Patrick's Day (or close to it) Drawdown and Supper finds the wandering Saint celebrating Mardi Gras, probably somewhere on the Gulf Coast. Dinner for TWO, entertainment and a chance at over $3,000 in cash and prizes for $50!. Festivities at the Church of the Redeemer's DeMiller Hall in Biloxi.

May 5th, 2001 @8:15 Impresario and I Pagliacci - Mozart's hilarious Impresario, followed by Leoncavallo's tragic and moving I Pagliacci will show you two radically different perspectives on the "business" of entertainment. Starring will be Linnie Garner-Mower, Alexander Kariotis and Patrick Jacobs who delighted the audience in last season's Tosca, as well as Mr. Kariotis' wife Aimee Willis and Greg Smith of Laurel. Reserved seating tickets are $20 for adults and $6 for students at the door.
