What I listen to in the car
I always have the stereo on when on the road, usually louder than
it should be. I go absolutely batty if the car stereo isn't working.
My car stereo has eighteen presets in three banks of six: AM, FM1, FM2.
AM
I do like AM, really, but my amplifier (Rockford Fosgate Punch 40)
generates too much noise to allow comfortable AM listening. It's my
fault, not the amplifier's, I've just got it wired in a weird way.
FM1 (Mississippi Gulf Coast stations)
- 90.3, WMAH, the Coast's Public Radio In Mississippi outlet
- 93.7, Magic 93.7, not the same as the old WQID, but it'll do
- 96.7, Light Rock 96.7, one of the better "light rock" stations I know
- 97.9, WCPR, Real Rock for the Gulf Coast, newer stuff than 96.7
- 105.9, Classic Rock 105.9, the Coast's home of Classic Rock 'n Roll
- 107.1, WXYK, Kiss FM, for those dance music moods
FM2 (New Orleans area stations, mostly)
- 89.9, WWNO, UNO's most excellent radio station, wish it came in better
- 97.1, B-97, they dropped Howard Stern, but oh well
- 99.5, The River, it ain't the old WRNO, but I love the all Seventies format
- 95.3, , Live 95, a great new addition to the MS Coast radio scene
- 105.3, WLTS, another of the better light rock stations
- 106.7, The End, almost identical to WCPR 97.9 over here
