Mississippi River on the Move

satellite photo
The image on the left was produced by a Synthetic Aperature Radar (SIR-C/X-SAR) onboard Space Shuttle Endeavour on October 9, 1994.

See NASA's webpage Mississippi River for more information about the image.

On the image, state boundaries are marked in white. Note that in places the river has migrated away from the boundaries, so that portions of the states are seemingly on the wrong sides of the river.

The state boundaries are derived from page 34 of DeLORME's Mississippi Atlas & Gazetteer™. Contact DeLORME for information on their excellent line of cartographic products.
