I am one of the survivors of the only entertainment we had in the small town of Ocean Springs, Mississippi during the late 60's and early to mid 70's:THE BEACH....The Beach is still there, but long gone are the friends that used to hang out on the beach and frequent the Pic-Quic and Hess Station.Any time, any day, if a friend couldn't be reached by phone, just jump in your car and go "around the beach" to find them. We all had a group of friends to hang out with and met and made lots of other friends during that era of THE BEACH. I'm especially interested in the years between 1968 through 1980 or so. If other years fall in there let me know. I'm sure earlier years apply, I just wasn't there. Anything later is a whole different crowd, including the unruly bunch responsible for the closure of Front Beach at night! THANKS GUYS!!! I wouldn't hang out there now, of course, but it would be nice if the kids could have a place to go meet with friends. Today the scene would be so much different that it's probably best the way it is. We had occasional trouble and a few really memorable incidents, but all things considered, everybody was well behaved and stayed within the law to a reasonable extent. Any help with stories or photos from former Front Beach "goers" would be appreciated. I need pictures! I need stories!! Now then! East Beach is a whole different story in it's self. That's where most dates were completed at some point in the night. It is also long deserted. It was more than just the "submarine races". It was a tradition. Let's hear about some of that! I remember the trips down there with all the cars lined up along the seawall late at night. Blake Pilutti gave me the idea for this site a few years ago. Thanks Blake! Where's the BOOK?! I look forward to some of his perspectives. Please visit often as this site will grow and branch to various subjects. Maybe about Ocean Springs maybe not, but everything will be interesting. *****
