OK, I admit it. I'm angry. Too much has been made of a simple remark by a man known throughout the United States as an outspoken but basically decent human being. I thought that the recent media infatuation with the murder of all those students at Virginia Technical University and other places would put all the controversy about Don Imus and his alleged racial slurs back in its place, but I was wrong. The racists have given it far more power than it deserves. I think it's time to quit tap dancing around that elephant and face up to the politically incorrect (some say "offensive") reality of the situation. Fortunately for me, I've never felt the need to be politically correct, and I'm not afraid of elephants, either.
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." [2 Timothy 1:7]Many years ago, I met a female Methodist minister who defined race as the difference between Caucasians and Negroes. (The subject of Orientals didn't come up.) The Bible, she maintained, identified two separate and distinct species of the genus Homo, one the children of light, descendants of Abel, and the other the children of darkness, descendants of Cain. The latter were supposedly marked eternally with the "sign of the beast," destined forever to be servants, the hewers of wood and the drawers of water. One hears that attitude repeated today by the likes of David Duke, Al Sharpton and Richard G. Butler. I find it significant that two of these three are also Protestant ministers. Is this a common Protestant belief? More about that later.
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." [Matthew 7:15]I grew up in Iowa among people whose ancestors, like mine, had come across the prairie in covered wagons or on the railroad from foreign lands to take advantage of the limitless opportunity of being American citizens. We were of many different skin and hair colors, accents, and cultural heritages, the truest form of the American "melting pot." Dark skinned people, including Indians and Arabs, were called "colored." Today, some of them are now politically correctly called black. I've met only two really black people in my life, and both of them were from the Republic of Mali. "Black" people in the US are actually different shades of brown. Why call them black if they're some other color? It's a different crayon in the box, even if you only have eight, an attempt to deny what these people truly are. The color that's closest to my color is called "peach," because "flesh" is racial. Whatever they call themselves in the US, a person traditionally distinguished by sub-Saharan African physical characteristics such as brown to black pigmentation and often tightly curled hair is commonly referred to as a Negro. The word is number 13 on page 769 of my "Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary." That's good enough for me. In what follows, I'll use the word for such people in general, realizing that there are many exceptions.
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." [John 8:32]In spite of the protestations of the female Methodist minister, Negroes are as human as anybody else. They are exactly the same species as other people. They interbreed with all other humans successfully, and their progeny are fertile in all proportions, except for statistically expected random anomalies. They are created equal to everyone else. They are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Jesus commanded them to love themselves and each other, and us to love them. Negroes are not a different race. Chimpanzees are a different race. Orangutans are a different race. Dolphins are a different race. Negroes are people. Not all of them are black. Not all of them are Africans. Not all of them are Americans. But all of them are people.
"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." [John 13:34]As a group, though, they have many problems. American Negroes tend to blame their misery on slavery, but none of them has ever been a slave or known anyone who was ever a slave. They might have been slaves in other countries, but not here. American Negroes wouldn't even know anything about slavery if they didn't embrace it so vehemently and celebrate its history every February. Negroes as a group are so dedicated to using slavery as an excuse for their own inadequacies that they will do anything, literally anything, to preserve its legacy. They have been voting for all of my lifetime for Democrats, yet it was the Democrats who embraced slavery so violently that 360,000 white boys under a Republican administration had to die to get rid of it once and for all. My ancestors were slaves, too. They were slaves of the Romans. Do you hear me griping about it? Of course not!
"But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life." [Romans 6:22]American Negroes tend to be poor. The Statistical Abstract of the United States exposes this fact in some detail. Negroes statistically earn and own less than other Americans, and they are more likely to be uneducated, unemployed, unhealthy, illegitimate, and on welfare. As a result, Negroes proportionately lack the power to manage their destiny by buying what they want, yet they keep voting for laws that encourage this situation. If they happen to get enough money to rise above the subsistence level, they tend to spend it on things that do them no good at all, such as tattoos, gold teeth, ostentatious jewelry, fake fingernails, fast-depreciating cars, and addicting drugs.
"But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." [Matthew 6:20, 21]One of the reasons Negroes are disproportionately poor is because they are disproportionately ignorant and disproportionately lazy. In spite of having equal educational opportunities for over two generations since the "Brown vs. Board of Education" decision, Negroes tend not to go to school as much as others. They study less, skip class, sleep, screw with the teachers, break the school rules, and get themselves suspended and expelled more. Academic achievers are actively oppressed and persecuted by Negro communities which regard them as "oreos" or "Uncle Toms."
"For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God." [Romans 10:3]As a group, American Negroes alive today have not contributed nearly as much from society as they have taken from it. Those of us who participated actively in the civil rights movement of the 60's in the belief that we were doing something positive have been betrayed! There are exceptions of course, such as Barack Obama, Condolezza Rice, Clarence Thomas, Joseph Lawson Howze and many others like them. But overall, Negroes have not lived up to the promise of freedom that over a third of a million white Americans gave their lives to secure for their ancestors. The problem has reached catastrophic proportions today, as evidenced by the number of Negroes who are unemployed, illegitimate, homeless, drug addicted and in jail. Congress has been unable to do anything positive about it except to waste truly humungous amounts of taxpayers' money to fix more problems it created by spending money pretending (unsuccessfully) to fix it in the past.
"For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat." [2 Thessalonians 3:10]Negroes are fiercely opposed to tolerance, the handmaiden of freedom. Their political philosophy is classic socialism, "spreading the wealth around." They actively discourage free speech and open communication, even among themselves. They habitually use words and grammatical constructions that not even they can fully understand, and sprinkle their conversations with phrases such as "you know what I'm sayin'?" to compensate for the fact that they lack basic communication skills. They slur their words and reduce their vocabulary to epithets and curse words. There was even a movement among American Negroes in California to teach Ebonics as a language, in spite of the fact that not a single comprehensive Ebonics dictionary or authoritative text containing whatever morphologic, syntactic, and semantic rules it might have had has ever existed anywhere.
"But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." [Matthew 12:36, 37]If Negroes accidentally find something they do so well that people will pay them for it, like acting or playing professional sports, they are more likely to torpedo their opportunities. They break the rules, cheat, annoy the other players, coaches and fans; get in trouble, drive drunk, and make obscene gestures to the public. They also tend to get into other kinds of trouble more. They steal things that can be easily traced, conspire to commit crimes before witnesses, or mess with the cops. They beat up little old ladies in walkers. They sell and use illegal drugs. They carry and employ guns for petty crimes, and tend to show them off to others for evidence, even if they're already convicted felons. Sometimes they commit crimes just for the heck of it, like shooting at cars on the Interstate. Don't take my word for it, folks! The next time you hear about a really stupid, senseless, vicious or dishonorable crime, note the color of the person who committed it!
"For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man." [Mark 7:21-23]Slavery has nothing to do with it. The American progeny of African slaves are incomparably better off, socially, politically, economically and culturally than their indigenous African relatives. The proof is that so few American Negroes make any effort whatever to go back to their supposed natural habitat. When did you last see a demonstration for free transportation to Africa, the land of Somali pirates and Nigerian 419 scams? Whenever Negro African countries manage to acquire enough wealth to raise their citizens above the level of abject misery, they squander it on disastrous internecine orgies of rape, pillage, plunder, theft, mayhem, torture and murder too reprehensible even to be dignified by the term "war."
"Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men." [Romans 12:17, 18]Liberia, which means "Land of the Free," is the only "African American" country in the entire world. It was founded as an independent nation by free-born and formerly enslaved Africans with assistance from the United States Government as, among other things, a place of refuge for the slaves the US freed while in transit from slave-making African tribes. Its constitution is virtually identical to ours. In 1989 it finally reached the level of prosperity the USA had just before World War I. In the absence of external enemies, it managed nonetheless to plunge itself into chaos with two disastrous civil wars, the First Liberian Civil War (1989-1996), and the Second Liberian Civil War (1999-2003). These have displaced hundreds of thousands and destroyed the Liberian economy. Of its 13 heads of state since 1930, three have resigned, two have been assassinated, and only seven have held constitutional offices. Call their embassy (202-723-0437) if you want to find out how to emigrate there and how many Americans are doing that.
"For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." [Galatians 5:13,14]In spite of determined efforts by their fellow Americans, Negroes passionately resist integration. They embrace quotas and discrimination and special treatment and lower personal standards. They demonstrate instead of voting, often in ways calculated to encourage votes against whatever they're for. They are known for no-class clothing styles, idiosyncratic gestures, inflection, pronunciation and other ethnic mannerisms. Negro "music" is atonal noise, accompanied by blatantly offensive lyrics. Negro art is essentially nonexistent except for beads and trinkets and spray paint on railroad cars and other people's buildings. Negro entertainment often consists of stereotypes and denigration of other Negroes. Negroes call themselves by strange, deprecating names, like "ludicrous," "dog poop" and "pee puddle." Even when they have American names, they often don't know how to spell them. They curse a lot and show off their butt cracks and dress like hobos or circus clowns and act like wild animals and go out of their way to offend their neighbors. They seem to find being professional victims profitable. Suing those who they believe have wronged them for many times what they could possibly honestly earn over their lifetimes has become a popular pastime among them. The word is "disrespected." They have ego, but no pride. Perhaps that is why they spend so much of their time making others despise them.
"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God." [Galatians 5:19-21]There is method to their madness, however. Some Negroes believe that if they can show that a disproportionate number of Negroes are found guilty of crimes, they can escape punishment on the assumption that they are being persecuted because they are Negroes, which violates, among other things, the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution, instead of because they are criminals, which does not. For example, in 1987, in McCleskey v. Kemp, Negro Warren McCleskey argued that his death penalty for murdering a white police officer was unconstitutional because a study demonstrated that in Georgia, (1) Negroes convicted of murdering whites had a higher chance of receiving the death penalty than whites who killed whites, and (2) Defendants (of any color) accused of killing a white victim are 4.3 times more likely to receive the death penalty than defendants who killed a Negro victim. The Supreme Court decided in this case that a mere statistical variation was not enough to invalidate his conviction and execution. Essentially, Negro criminals are just as much criminals as other kinds, even if there are more of them, and regardless of who their victims are. Cases involving other punishments can be expected to be decided on the precedent established by this ruling.
"And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God." [Luke 16:15]One of the brightest hopes for Negro success in the modern world was the charismatic Nation of Islam leader Malcolm X. His followers were conspicuous for being clean, well groomed, sober, virtuous and moral, the basic tenets of Islam. Islam teaches that man must take responsibility to respect himself, care for his neighbors, and discharge his religious, social and civic duties. Initially a fierce enemy of "white devils," Malcolm X was led by his religious studies to an ultimate belief in the essential brotherhood of all human beings. He preached that people were poor and uneducated and oppressed because they chose to be, by rejecting opportunities to better themselves by education and hard work and self respect. He maintained that to do less was an affront to the essential dignity of any human being. He was assassinated in front of about 400 witnesses by Negro agitators. Today if anyone even suggests that some Negroes act in ways that he condemned, they claim that they are being "disrespected."
"But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God." [Ephesians 5:3-5]A case in point is the firing of Don Imus from CBS and MSNBC. Mr. Imus, known for his controversial observations and comments, suggested in a conversation on the air that the Rudgers ladies' basketball team players looked like "nappy-headed hard core hoes." A media frenzy ensued, in which Mr. Imus apologized profusely to the Negro community, the Rudgers team, and anyone else he might have offended. In spite of his apparently sincere apologies, he was subsequently fired over the incident.
"For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." [Matthew 6:14, 15]Recently a local member of the Board of Directors of the NAACP, Ms. Kathy Egland, did the guest editorial on WLOX-TV. This is what she said:
"It is truly time to use the recent outrage at Don Imus to take personal responsibility for promoting more consideration of diversity, across the board. We know all too well that the use of slurs by too many people has gone too far for far too long. "I tend to agree with Ms. Egland. Indeed, much of the wretchedness endured by Negroes around the world has been due to their failure to take personal responsibility for promoting more consideration of diversity, such as that between the Tutsis and Hutus of conflict-torn Rwanda. In the United States, Negroes have turned power to offend them and responsibility for their welfare over to non-Negroes, with predictable results. This reckless disregard of their inherent duty to manage their own destiny has resulted in the consequence of their current miserable existence."Slurs and culturally denigrating comments uttered by anyone are unequivocally offensive, period! It has been disheartening to hear journalists make the ridiculous argument that if someone else makes disparaging comments that they should be able to do likewise. Why would anyone want to imitate racists, bigots, sexists and the like? Comedy has traditionally been tongue-in-cheek. Lately it has become more foot in rear."
"I am devoted to the right of free speech. However, with all rights come responsibilities. A reckless disregard of those responsibilities may result in consequences. The remedy for our current state of cultural unrest is less condemnation, more understanding and respect of our diverse backgrounds. Appreciation of our diversity will require a little, but worthwhile effort to open ourselves to experiences beyond our own personal, customary comforts."
"Exercising common courtesy and respect for the rights of all races, religions, genders, sexual orientations and ethnicities reinforce all of our freedoms."
"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil." [John 3:19]Ms. Egland may, however, be confusing "freedom" and "license." One is not equally free as another if the consequences of the abuse of that freedom are unequal, offensive or otherwise. Don Imus was fired for using a word once in conversation that Negroes are paid fortunes to use countless times in entertainment. Equal rights, this is not!
"Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." [Romans 12:21]Absent its appearance in an authoritative dictionary, the word "hoe" or "ho" is defined in the context in which it appears, on MTV and VH1 videos. The Negro women referred to as "hoes" do indeed resemble the Rudgers ladies' basketball team. Why the violent reaction? Mr. Imus specifically referred to their tattoos, which they carefully covered up in the team photograph intended to dispute his claim. Frankly, they looked pretty nappy-headed to me. The term was used by Stevie Wonder in reference to himself, so it can't be all that offensive. The matter could have been quickly resolved by examining each one of the ladies for the tattoo on the lower back known as a "hoe tag" (not to be confused with a "tramp stamp" or a "slag tag"). Those who have it are "hoes" by definition, regardless of what the definition is.
"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works." [1 Timothy 2:9,10]The team coach made an impassioned speech to the effect that the players were precious young female athletes, not whores, but Mr. Imus did not call them whores. He also did not call them callous-ass strumpets, fornicatresses, or low-born gutter sluts. He didn't even call them "hoes." He said that they looked like hoes because of their tattoos. It's a judgment call. The judgment cannot reasonably be evaluated if the evidence is covered up, and Mr. Imus certainly didn't apply the tattoos!
"Abstain from all appearance of evil." [1 Thessalonians 5:22]Regardless of the magnitude of the insult, Mr. Imus was expressing his personal opinion, which he was being paid for and had a Constitutional right to do. No one except Mr. Imus was harmed. He didn't intend to displease anyone; people freely chose to be insulted. "Sticks and stones," and all that. The "consequences" of which Ms. Egland spoke were not the consequences of his remarks, they were the consequences of the hysterical reaction to them. In the orgy of excessive and uncontrolled emotion, many lost sight of the significant fact that, whatever the Rudgers ladies may be, they do in fact have a severely adverse "hard core" image. Don Imus was right! They themselves acknowledged this by covering up the very characteristics that Mr. Imus said he found objectionable. The problem has become truly epidemic. American women in general are making themselves so repulsive that their men have to take drugs to find them sexually stimulating. They either allow themselves to be treated like walking sperm banks, or consider themselves "harassed" if a stranger mistakenly suggests they're sexually attractive. Forty percent of them would rather go shopping anyway, so they are rapidly being eliminated from the gene pool. Most of them are too fat, have disgusting tattoos, can't stay married, and appear in public looking like Bangladeshi vagrants. Their lack of morals is a scandal to the entire world! They are being abused and murdered in record numbers, especially in the Negro communities where the rate is greater than one a day! Ladies, you seriously need to get the message, and you're silencing the messengers!
"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet." [Romans 1:26,27]Most of the hard feeling about this was generated and encouraged by one man, the allegedly reverend Alfred Charles Sharpton. Mr. Sharpton is one of the preeminent bigots of our generation, a devoted adherent of the lie that Negroes constitute a different race than the rest of humanity. In this, he continued the spreading of hatred and discord that has made him for many years the servant of the Devil, the Father of Lies. Much of the sorry state of attitudes of and about Negroes in the United States today can be traced directly to ideas espoused and promulgated by Mr. Sharpton.
"Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." [Matthew 7:19-20]Mr. Sharpton is known for being a fiery and charismatic speaker. It is his main occupation, in spite of being known as "reverend" for an ordination that happened at age nine, in a religion he no longer embraces. His "seminary" graduation was from Samuel J. Tilden High School in Brooklyn. He has been a self-proclaimed candidate for the United States Senate, the Mayor of New York, and President of the United States, in spite of never having been elected to any public office. He was required to repay $100,000 in public funds he received from the federal government for his 2004 Presidential campaign due to failure to comply with federal election regulations.
"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." [John 8:44]Mr. Sharpton refuses to practice what he preaches regarding apologies. Negroes do not seem to understand the concept. He was ordered to pay $345,000 in damages to the Dutchess County prosecutor, Steven Pagones, whom he accused of racism and of being one of the perpetrators of the alleged abduction and rape of Tawana Brawley. He has refused to apologize, in spite of the fact that a grand jury determined the evidence did not support Brawley's story.
"He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." [1 John 2:4]He actively campaigned for the prosecution of three white Duke lacrosse players who had been accused of sexually assaulting Crystal Gail Mangum, an exotic dancer at a off-campus party. The accused players were later exonerated in light of evidence that Ms. Mangum was lying. DA Mike Nifong was removed from the case, disbarred for unethical conduct and sent to jail (for one day, at least) for criminal contempt of court.
"If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?" [1 John 4:20]In a debate about atheism and religious belief with atheist author Christopher Hitchens, at one point Mr. Sharpton said about Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, a Mormon: "As for the one Mormon running for office, those that really believe in God will defeat him anyway." Mr. Romney took that to mean that Mr. Sharpton meant that Mormons don't "really believe in God." It sure sounded that way to me, too. Mr. Sharpton refused to apologize, insisting, unpersuasively, that he meant no offense. He said in a statement that he was merely predicting that believers, not atheists, would vote against Mr. Romney for political, not religious, reasons. In "explaining" his remarks, he suggested that an apology would be inappropriate because the Mormon religion taught that black people aren't equal to white people. With Mr. Sharpton it's always a question of "race," and if he thinks that Negroes are equal to white people in anything except their basic humanity, he needs to take a look around.
"And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest (perceivest) not the beam that is in thine own eye?" [Matthew 7:3, Luke 6:41]Recently Mr. Sharpton led a reported 60,000 Negroes into tiny Jena, Louisiana, for a week to protest the racial injustice allegedly done there to young, sociopathic Mychal Bell. Mr. Bell was in jail pending trial in lieu of $90,000 bail for, among other things, participating in an attack on a white Jena High School student in retaliation for somebody having hung what appeared to be "nooses" from a tree on campus, since cut down in an effort to calm flaring tempers. Mr. Sharpton failed sufficiently to recognize that: (1) Mr. Bell's conviction as an adult already had been overturned by an appellate court that ruled he should have been tried as a juvenile. (2) He was in jail in lieu of bond awaiting that trial. (3) All the other indicted Negro participants had already been released. (4) Mr. Bell was also being held on other, unrelated charges on which he previously had been indicted. (5) No charges of impropriety had been brought against any law enforcement official involved, even after a special hearing. (6) The other Negroes reportedly attacked the victim simply because he was white, which definitely constitutes a hate crime. (7) No evidence had been presented that he had anything whatever to do with the "noose" incident. (8) There was scant evidence that the "noose" incident had ever actually taken place, and (9) The whole affair had been started by a Negro student who had been deliberately taunting the school's white students. Mr. Sharpton didn't accomplish anything there that he said he had set out to do. He also conveniently failed to mention that the 60,000 protesters could have gotten Mychal promptly released by simply kicking in a buck fifty each and paying his bail. The protesters lost over fourteen million dollars if they had jobs at minimum wage (not to mention the money they spent on the trip). If they didn't have jobs, Mr. Sharpton could have done them a service by trying to get them some. But then he wouldn't have gotten his big mouth on TV - again!
"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." [Matthew 24:24]Released from jail on $45,000 bond after his conviction as an adult was overturned and his case was remanded to juvenile court, young Mychal reportedly celebrated his new found freedom and notoriety by promptly violating the terms of his release. He was subsequently sent back to jail, this time to juvenile detention, where he is scheduled to remain for at least eighteen months, after which he will be old enough to begin committing adult crimes. (Mr. Sharpton's reaction to Mr. Bell's reincarceration is left as a research exercise for the student.)
"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them." [Romans 16:17]Four days before his trial as a juvenile for the hate crime that resulted in the hospitalization of Justin Barker was set to begin, Mychal Bell entered a plea of guilty to a reduced charge of second-degree battery in district court, thus directly contradicting the hordes of demonstrators who claimed earlier that he was innocent. As part of the plea agreement, Bell will serve a juvenile detention of at least eight months, pay various costs including a pro-rata share to Justin Barker, and testify in the trials of the other "Jena Six" defendants (including a seventh, Malcolm Shaw, the younger brother of defendant Theodore Shaw). Bell admitted in open court that he did in fact deliver the knock-out punch on Justin Barker December 4, 2006, that left him unconscious. Because second-degree battery is a felony in adult court punishable up to five years of hard labor, young Mr. Bell remained in custody with the Louisiana Department of Corrections juvenile authorities. In spite of the fact that he admitted his guilt, pressure was brought by various civil rights groups for former Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco to pardon him. Her position was that she did not have that authority to do that, and neither did her successor, Bobby Jindal. The point became moot when Mychal turned 18, was released, and subsequently got himself rearrested Christmas eve, 2008, for theft of several shirts and a pair of jeans from a department store, then fleeing from an off-duty police officer, and striking a security guard. Released on $1,300 bond, he went home and shot himself with a pistol he wasn't legally allowed to possess. Unfortunately, his aim wasn't very good. He's still alive!
"Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well." [1 Peter 2:13-15]Now an adult, Mychal's latest arrest was on March 23, 2010, in Jena for hitting a man in the face, grabbing him in a headlock and slamming his head on a table, "because he was running his mouth about me." That's all the reason he needed. One wonders whom Mychal is going to kill before the good people of Louisiana put him away for good, or how much it is going to cost to take care of him, at state expense, afterwards. It's too bad that person, whatever color he or she is, has to die, but that's the way things are.
"Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God." [Galatians 5:21]Mr. Sharpton's rhetoric, taken as a whole, seems determined to enflame ethnic tensions and find fault instead of solutions. He has indeed contributed support to minor Negro welfare causes, such as Operation Breadbasket, the National Youth Movement and National Action Network, but in terms of improving Negro quality of life overall, his achievements are at best questionable. Historically, if Mr. Sharpton claims someone is guilty, he is invariably innocent, and vice versa. You can evaluate his position in national issues for yourself.
"They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate." [Titus 1:16]Regarding the Imus affair, I saw another Negro "reverend" on TV shouting angrily that Don Imus "deserved to be unemployed." What legitimate religion preaches this? No doubt there were a few people in his congregation who equally deserved to be fired from their jobs, and maybe several unemployed who deserved each to have one. Did this "reverend" get them hired? If someone did not raise an unemployed person to the power, prestige and income formerly enjoyed by Don Imus, promoting Mr. Imus' unemployment is not justice, it is vengeance.
"Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." [Romans 12:19]Christianity preaches love and peace and forgiveness, not hatred and discord and retribution. A spokesperson for the Rudgers basketball team said that they were "in the process of forgiving" Don Imus, but their "process," whatever it was, took too long and accomplished nothing worthwhile. It apparently did not include player Kia Vaughan, who jumped on the professional victim bandwagon by announcing her intention to sue Mr. Imus for defamation of character. She claimed that her reputation was so fragile that it was irreparably damaged by his offhand remark. She has since apparently thought better of the idea. I don't know why. It's hard to imagine that she couldn't have found at least one Negro lawyer willing to take this ridiculous case. After all, there's a Negro judge who sued a Korean mom and pop dry cleaning establishment for $15,000,000 for temporarily misplacing his pants, and one self-styled "Katrina victim" is suing the Army Corps of Engineers for three quadrillion dollars ($3,000,000,000,000,000)! Surely Ms. Vaughan's case is stronger than that! Maybe not. The Rudger's basketball teammates have yet to forgive Mr. Imus by getting his old job back. They might as well have claimed to be "in the process" of becoming virgins.
"Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven." [Luke 6:37]To put the whole matter in its proper perspective, one might contrast the uproar about (white) Mr. Imus' remarks about the Rudgers (Negro) ladies' basketball team players looking like "nappy-headed hard core hoes" with a subsequent series of remarks by foul-mouthed (Negro) Jamie Foxx about (16 year old white girl) Miley Cyrus on his radio show. Among other things, Mr. Foxx claimed Ms. Cyrus should "...make a sex tape and grow up. Get like Britney Spears and do some heroin. Do like Lindsay Lohan and start seeing a lesbian and get some crack in your pipe. Catch chlamydia on a bicycle seat..." Mr. Sharpton's reaction, the public outrage, the editorials and commentaries, cries from black pulpits for him to be fired and the disciplinary action taken against Mr. Foxx are left as another research exercise for the student!
"Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel." [Matthew 23:24]As far as denigration of Negro women is concerned, it would be hard even to imagine anything more filthy, foul-mouthed or disgusting than the lyrics of popular performances of Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., otherwise known as "Lil Wayne." Yet, whatever what he does is called is so popular that there is a whole article on Wikipedia dedicated to the awards he has won or for which he has been nominated. I prefer not to sink to that level by quoting him, but if you want to know what he thinks about Negro women, listen to one of his demos the next time you're somewhere that stuff is sold. Keep in mind that he makes way more money than the President of the United States!
"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." [Matthew 7:5]For my part, I have blocked BET, MTV, VH1, MSNBC and all the CBS affiliates from my TV. I don't even receive those channels anymore. Whatever they have to show or sell me, it isn't worth paying attention to people who so callously despise the First Amendment. I have also reevaluated my voting position on social welfare. The fact is, nobody owns Negroes any more, at least in the United States. We don't have the right to tell them when or where they're out of line, or try to get them to live their lives according to our rules. We don't know who they are or how they feel or what they think. Therefore, protecting them from the evolutionary consequences of their behavior may be a gross disservice. The rest of us have been trying to help and encourage and support Negroes as a group for all of my adult life, and it isn't doing any apparent good. The Jews and the Catholics and the Irish and the Chinese and the Indians and the Japanese and the Vietnamese have been forced to adapt or die, and they have all "made it." The Negroes, with their welfare and quotas and affirmative action and bussing, haven't. They're still destitute and ignorant and disadvantaged and exploited and miserable and paranoid. The one Negro who became President of the United States is a true African-American, but his Negro ancestors were free Africans, not enslaved Americans, and he prepared for the job by graduating magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, not by being a loutmouth bigot pseudo-preacher.
"In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." [John 16:34]A perfect example of the intractability of the problem was a gathering recently in Detroit sponsored by the NAACP, an organization whose very name suggests "racial" discrimination. A group of reportedly thousands of Negroes took time off from what they would normally have been doing to attend an expensive funeral, complete with carriage, casket, speech-making dignitaries and wilted flowers, for "the N-word." There seemed to be some disagreement about the degree of danger represented by use of "the N-word," why or by whom "the N-word" might previously have been used, and, in fact, precisely what "the N-word" was. My personal feeling is that they might better have spent all that money and time distributing little pamphlets like you see in church extolling the virtues of maturity in speech and reactions thereto, and pointing out that the only white people who react strongly to "honky" are pointy-headed cross burners. It wasn't clear to me what, if anything, positive was accomplished other than to put "the N-word," for a time, before the minds of people all over the world! Maybe they should have made a little extra effort and gotten rid of the "B-word" and the "H-word," and maybe even the "MF-word" and "CS-word," too. (Of course, then some of them might not have been able to talk, but it would have been a small price to pay, considering.)
"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before." [Philippians 3:13]Today, for the first time in history, American Negroes have a real chance to be represented in the highest office in the land. Unlike the social misfit "N-words" who don't even know who their own fathers are, much less where their ancestors came from, Barack Obama is a real African American, the son of an African father and American mother. He's paid his dues as a Negro civil rights leader and community organizer, and overcome not only prejudice against Negroes, but also prejudice against his name. At a time when Negroes at Columbia University and Harvard Law School were known as "janitors," he graduated from both prestigious institutions, and is now one of the most popular and charismatic political figures on the planet. He's one of only five Negro Senators in history, and the only Negro ever elected President. Except for leadership and experience, he has all the qualifications necessary. Fortunately for him, Negro voters considered him "their" candidate. The overwhelming majority voted for him simply because of the color of his skin, not because he's "like them," which he isn't.
"For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men." [1 Peter 2:15]He's had some problems, though. I saw his visibly (and justifiably) angry wife Michelle on television reacting to the assertion that her husband "isn't black enough." As if to make up for her husband's "lack of blackness," Michelle some weeks later in a rally in Wisconsin remarked, "for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country." Mrs. Obama is reported to have added in a later speech to "clarify" her remark, "Life is not good: we're a divided country, we're a country that is just downright mean, we are guided by fear, we're a nation of cynics, sloths, and complacents. We have become a nation of struggling folks who are barely making it every day. Folks are just jammed up, and it's gotten worse over my lifetime." To many whites, this was just what they were waiting for, prima facie evidence that the Obama family sees Negro subculture as representative of the nation as a whole. Not even the "white bitch" would have dared to utter such an inflammatory, unpatriotic statement, compared to which the "nappy-headed hard core ho" remark pales into insignificance.
"A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh." [Luke 6:45]A similar sentiment was promulgated in a much-publicized rant by Senator Obama's former pastor and spiritual mentor, the allegedly reverend Jeremiah Wright. In his now famous "God damn America" speech, he simply repeated what has long been preached in Negro churches, blaming "rich white people" for a plethora of "black" ills, including the spread of AIDS and the World Trade Center bombings. His main thesis appeared to be that Negroes should vote for Barack Obama because he is the "black" candidate, as they did. In subsequent interviews, he attempted to defend his remarks and cast himself as the victim. In the words of CNN's senior political analyst, David Gergen, it was "the most stupid, the most selfish, the most narcissistic act [he'd] seen in politics in forty years." He went on to say, "Here we have, for the first time in American history, an African American who might make it to the Presidency, and Reverend Jeremiah Wright is choosing it to single-handedly do more than anyone else in the country to try to stop that candidacy. Although he firmly declared otherwise, the senator's response, appeared to many to indicate a lack of understanding of the sentiment behind "white" reaction, thus reinforcing his identity as a "black" candidate. If he is "the 'black' President," the rest of us had every reason to vote for somebody else next time. We may have elected somebody who preferentially represents a small minority of other people! It's beginning to look that way. Karl Marx would be proud!
"And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me." [John 16:3]Mr. Obama's election is a perfect example of the pernicious effects of racism. For all his many good qualities, he simply does not have the maturity, experience, or understanding of what the job entails to be President, as he has been increasingly demonstrating of late. The "hope" he promised has not translated into better living conditions for the people who voted for him simply because he's "black." Congress is not providing the kind of check and balance he desperately needs, either. The onset of the disaster they have already perpetrated on black people is perhaps slow enough that the cause won't be obvious, but the fact is that black people are already economically worse off, by some estimates as much as ten percent, than under the previous administration. It is not only white people who have lost their jobs, homes, life savings, pensions and insurance, and if Mr. Obama's incompetence precipitates a disastrous war, it will not be only white people who will suffer and die fighting it!
"For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." [Matthew 25:29-30]Unfortunately for them, Negroes have built the gallows, woven the rope, made the noose, tied the knot, slipped it around their collective necks, stepped onto the trap door, and firmly grasped the release. It remains to be seen if they have managed to lynch themselves by helping to elect the first Negro President who is also the youngest, least experienced and most liberal ever. If he can't do the job, it won't be the rich people who will suffer and die for his incompetence! According to his own Vice President, "the Presidency of the United States does not lend itself to on-the-job training." The only really bad thing about a republic is that the voters usually get what they deserve.
"Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city." [Matthew 23:34]All life on earth is conditioned to live in its own environment, and if it is relocated into a different environment, it will not survive unless it adapts. "Affirmative action" in many cases is such a relocation. For example, over half of the Negro law students admitted to Harvard and Yale law schools under "affirmative action" programs are in the bottom 10 percent of their classes, based on grade point averages, and 43 percent of them never pass their bar exams. Students admitted because of the color of their skin with less than stellar academic qualifications are therefore forced to compete with the best and brightest students of other ethinicities in the entire country. The program thus functions to increase the proportion of white Harvard and Yale law school graduates in the world, and also to destroy the hopes of the Negro dropouts left with student loan debts of up to $160,000. However they stack up against other Negroes, the affirmative action selectees are only average, at best, when compared to other students, and average kids have no business at Harvard or Yale. Should Negroes be admitted to ivy league schools? Of course - but only if they're smart enough. The way to find that out is to admit them on the basis of their entrance exams, regardless of what color they are or what presumably happened to their ancestors.
"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you." [Matthew 7:6]One occasionally hears about "white guilt," one of the many supposed causes of Negro problems. As I understand it, either we whites are guilty of slavery or something else and are causing Negroes to suffer by not expiating it, or we think we are and are causing Negroes to suffer by doing inappropriate things as a result. Either way, Negro suffering is our fault. According to this theory, Whites are somehow forcing black people to skip class, not do their homework, drop out of school entirely, buy fake degrees, get pregnant at 14, buy guns, or vote for minimum wages that are so high that it's now actually illegal to pay them what they're worth. Affirmative action programs that, predictably, don't work are seen as a manifestation of white guilt that once again oppresses Negroes.
"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you, that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." [Matthew 5:44-55]I have been a white person for 68 years. I have known a lot of white people during that time, and I cannot recall a single white person who admits to feeling any guilt about the fate of black people - not one! I am perhaps a typical example. My great grandparents came to this country from Europe long after the Civil War, with whatever they could carry in one (1) suitcase. They settled in the Midwest, where nobody cared who or what color your daddy was; they wanted to know who you were. If you took care of your family and gave good example and education to your children and worked to better yourself and your community, you were accepted in it as a valued member. If you spent your time committing petty crimes, feeding at the public trough and complaining about what happened to your long dead ancestors, to hell with you. And if you believed that it was a necessary exercise of your civil rights to shoot up and fornicate instead of getting a decent education and a responsible job, the community did everything it could legally, and in some cases illegally, to get rid of you so the rest of us could enjoy the fruit of our labors. I, and most white people I know, believe that tolerating the existence of lazy, irresponsible people of any color, including affirmative action programs, is simply the price we have to pay for the rights we all enjoy under the Constitution. We believe that "freedom" consists of being able to fail, as well as succeed, if one chooses.
"Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof." [Matthew 21:43]As for Mr. Imus, he's back on the air on a different network. CBS still owes him $40,000,000 on his contract. That's as much severance pay for being unemployed as he expected to earn by working. He has announced his intention to sue CBS for $120,000,000 for breach of his contract. This is the relevant statement in it:
"CBS Radio acknowledges that Imus' services to be rendered hereunder are of a unique, extraordinary, irreverent, intellectual, topical, controversial and personal character. And the programs of the same general type and nature containing these components are desired by CBS Radio and are consistent with company rules and policies."It looks like he's got a pretty good case. Will he be $80,000,000 richer as a result of his "racial" remarks? Is this what Mr. Sharpton wanted? Will the Rudgers girls basketball team's interests be served? I wonder what Mr. Sharpton and the other "reverends" will say about that. We'll see how it goes.
"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." [Matthew 5:11, 12]Forty years after the assassination of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, his memory is being dishonored by hypocrites who claim to be his followers, but embrace the same bigotry, racism and disrespect for equality that killed him. Perhaps it is time to make Negroes stand up on their hind feet and take responsibility for themselves as human beings in a free, competitive society, or suffer the natural consequences otherwise, as all the rest of us do. Mr. Sharpton and his whole lousy generation believes the way it was for them is the way it's got to be. And not until their whole generation has lain down and died will their dead weight be off our backs! Perhaps the kindest thing we can do for the current generation is to force them to stop thinking of themselves as African-Americans, or black, or Negroes, or colored people or hos or bitches or niggers, and start thinking of themselves as people, citizens of the greatest country in history, of which they should be justifiably proud, and precious, respectful children of a Loving God!
"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." [Matthew 7:12]Let's face it. Integration isn't working. So-called "equal opportunity" isn't working. For Negroes as a group, life is not good, as Michelle Obama observed. They maintain a divided country, creating a subculture that is just downright mean. They are guided by fear, a society of cynics, sloths, and complacents, struggling folks who are barely making it every day. They're are just jammed up, and it's gotten worse over the lifetime of most of them. Negroes neither promote nor enjoy full civil rights - anywhere. I have to admit, I don't know what the specific answer to Negro suffering is. They are never going to change history, or who their ancestors were, or what happened to people long dead. Efforts to change their color, or what it's called, haven't helped, either. They seem to be intent again on bringing about the very abysmal conditions their ancestors suffered and died to escape. Part of my freedom is to ignore being called a "honky" or "rabbit" or any other pejorative name, and Negroes will never be as free as I am until they learn to do the same. I tend to agree with the philosophy expressed by Negro comedian Chris Rock on the matter.
"And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down." [Luke 13:9]Perhaps what is needed is another Constitutional amendment something like California's Proposition 209 that forces Negroes to accept the consequences, good and bad, of competing on a equal basis. My personal feeling is that their situations, and the unequal burden they impose on the rest of us, are never going to improve as long as Negroes are content with being different and inferior and substandard and hypersensitive to the actions of others, but it's not my problem. It's their problem, and if it's going to be solved, they are going to have to solve it. As Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts recently wrote, "The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discrimination on the basis of race." I believe that they have to stop thinking like subhumans playing in blackface, and get in the habit of thinking like men. I feel sorry for them.
"Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep." [Romans 12:15]OK, I admit it. I'm angry, too.
"He's African-American," Wolf responded.
"Well, there you go," Imus said. "Now we know."
...And the fun began anew!
