Send a sorry Democrat to Canada

This link doesn't really send a sorry Democrat to
Canada, but didn't it feel good to think that you could?

Open your e-mail any day and you will find things like, "Wipe out past due taxes!" "Get free government money!" "Get your degree for life experiences!" "Make BIG MONEY in your spare time!"

You see it all over. Old people want more Medicare benefits and prescription drugs, but they weren't willing to save for them. Poor people want more welfare and aid to expectant mothers, but they don't want to work for them. Ignorant people want better jobs, but they don't want to educate themselves for them. Lazy people want what other people have, as long as they don't have to work for it. And virtually everybody in New Orleans affected by Hurricane Katrina wants OTHER taxpayers to rebuild their city, improve their levees, buy them new homes, keep them in fancy hotels and apartments, and give them other things they don't deserve, as long as they don't have to pay for any of it. So far, they want $1,000 from each and every taxpayer in the United States. I say, "Screw 'em!"

Nobody wants to be the ones to pay for it all. Tax the rich! Tax the corporations! Tax big business! DON'T TAX ME!

People demonstrate who don't vote. People get educational loans who don't want to study. Everybody wants to pass; nobody wants to fail if he doesn't measure up. Let someone else take care of my kids or my parents or my pregnant girlfriend. Give me, give me, give me. Me, me, ME!!!!

Where are all the patriots? Are they all in the military?

The Constitution of the United States is the greatest work of mankind that ever was or ever shall be. As President Calvin Coolidge once said, "To live under the American Constitution is the greatest political privilege that was ever accorded to the human race." The 13th Amendment guarantees to every citizen the right, if he so chooses, to be poor.

We are now at war with a faceless, nationless enemy whose avowed goal is simply to kill as many of us as possible. They have already killed over 7000 of us, over 4000 soldiers in combat and over 3000 in the World Trade Center. We can perhaps forgive them for killing our soldiers; war is war. But murdering innocent civilians is deserving of the most violent retaliation. During wartime, people may disagree with the Administration, but they must be careful that their disagreement does not give aid and comfort to their enemies.

Some countries consider the danger of disagreement so great that their governments suppress all disagreement, and even send people to jail for expressing sentiments which are contrary to "official" positions. Afghanistan was one, but we fixed that. In the US, we tolerate disagreement, and even guarantee freedom of the press, freedom of speech, and freedom of assembly, and allow the people themselves to decide when to speak up and when to keep quiet. Even a donkey has the right to bray! That doesn't make him wise.

Remember the guy in the picture, the one who "apologized to the world" for electing Mr. Bush? He was one of thousands of "sorry Democrats" who thought it was appropriate to oppose the election of George W. Bush after Mr. Bush had been elected!" One has to wonder what they thought they were going to accomplish. Where are all the "sorry Republicans" now that we have a Democratic President... and a Democratic House... and a Democratic Senate... and a nation plunging headlong into the abyss of socialism?!

Of course, there are some non-sorry Democrats, and some who are sorry but are keeping the fact secret. A lot of them are in Congress and New Orleans. I'm not talking about those; I'm talking about the whinybabies! I disagreed with the results of the elections in 1960, 1964, 1976, 1992 1996 and 2008, but I didn't apologize to the world, and I didn't move to Canada, either. I worked (and am working) to make my country better, and eventually to elect a president who favors my views on things. Other people may disagree with whether it is better or not, but unless they're Americans, their disagreement just doesn't count. Americans elected Mr. Obama, just as they elected Mr. Bush (twice!).

Many countries disagree with the way we are waging our war against terrorism, and many believe that we should not be at war at all, that we should all pack up and leave Iraq and Afghanistan. They are entitled to their opinions, which may be good for them, and I bear them no ill will. Some of them are our friends, and friends often disagree, while still remaining friends. There are other countries, such as Syria and France, to name only two, who want to see us fail and go home in disgrace. They are not our friends, and they are dishonest if they pretend to be.

I was young, not politically astute enough to form an informed opinion about the war in Vietnam, at the time I was involved in it. But I believed then, and I still believe, that I could most appropriately support whatever political objective was being sought by becoming a military engineer, by building roads and bridges and wells for the Vietnamese people. Whatever their situation now, and whether America was on the right side or the wrong side, the Vietnamese people are better off now because John Lindorfer was an American soldier in their country. I influenced actions by participating in them, not by running off to Canada and saying bad things about my country. I didn't have a choice about whether Americans should be in Vietnam, the only choice I had was whether I was there or somebody else was. I went there to do what good I could, and I believe, even today (especially today!), that I did the right thing.

I recently received an e-mail in which these people were compared to wolves in sheep's clothing. I immediately responded by noting that:

Wolves cooperate for the good of their society.   These people cooperate for the destruction of their society.
Wolves guard their territory against intruders.   These people go into other's territories and welcome intruders into their own.
Wolves are willing to fight against enemies to their society.   These people want to stop fighting the enemies of their society.
The best fighter in a wolf pack becomes the leader.   None of these people's candidates for leader has ever been a fighter..
Wolves get rid of the sick and the lame.   These people reward the sick and the lame.
Wolves operate in a pack led by a dominant male.   These people operate in a mob led by dominant females.
Wolves observe a strict hierarchy that preserves order.   These people jockey for power, to promote disorder.
Wolves don't pretend they're something else.   These people will pretend they're anything they think you'll vote for.
Wolves expel a pack member who doesn't work.   These people attract and encourage those who don't work.
Wolves are majestic predatory animals.   These people are disgusting parasitic vermin.
Wolves are an endangered species because of habitat destruction by others.   These people are a thriving species because of their own habitat expansion at the expense of others'.
Wolves eat fat, lazy sheep.   These people promote fat, lazy sheep.
Whenever a wolf pack is threatened, all the wolves cooperate to drive off the threat.   When these people's nation is threatened, they create discord to help the enemy.
Don't ever compare any of them to a wolf; you insult the wolf!

It seems to me that the "sorry Democrats" care more about being popular than about being patriotic, and love other countries more than their own. They are willing to undermine their own country's safety to further their own political goals. They are even willing to assist our enemies to continue killing our military personnel in the hope that they can eventually win politically what they have no hope of winning militarily. I believe anyone, in any country, who feels that way about his own country is all those bad things that "sorry" means, and I have nothing but contempt for them. As for those who want to move to Canada, I say "let them go and good riddance!" They are sorry excuses for Americans, and I would be happier if they were all Canadians or Mexicans or French or Saudis or North Koreans. They would not be embarrassing their own (and my) country when they criticized the US. I would be happy to help them move elsewhere if I could be assured that they would never, evern come back!

I wonder what would have happened in Russia if the Communists had announced their intention to remove Russian military forces from Chechnia and the supporters of Mr. Zuganov had posted a "sorry Communists" website and announced their desire to leave Russia and move to North Korea.

Your country is your society, your culture, your history. It is the "neighbors" that Jesus commanded you to love as yourself. Your children are raised there, and live and die there. The land is sacred; it contains the sweat and blood and tears of the countless generations of your ancestors who walked on it and cultivated it and drew from it all the material necessities of their lives. It also contains all that now remains of them, their bones and the results of all the things they accomplished. Your country created you and nurtured you and gave you all that you have and all that you are, and you did nothing, absolutely nothing, to deserve the blessing of being created a part of it.

The only way you can deserve to be a citizen, the only way that you can earn the right to be counted as part of your country, is to love it and support it and do what is necessary to make it strong and right and just and holy. You pay its taxes. You obey its laws. You respect its customs. You deal honestly with your fellows and you tell the truth and you keep yourself healthy, because that is what your country expects from you. You keep yourself informed of its needs for maintenance and improvement, and you do what you personally can to bring those things about. You read and you discuss and you listen and you learn and you vote. And if you believe that it is doing something wrong or unjust or harmful, you try as hard as you can to figure out what you can do to help it to change and then you do that, whatever it is and whatever it takes.

If your country is threatened, you support it and comfort it and fight for it and if necessary you die for it, bravely and lovingly and willingly, because that is what good citizens do.

And you pray to Almighty God, both for guidance and strength to be a good citizen, and in thanksgiving for being a citizen at all!

What you do not do is betray your country or side with its detractors or give any help at all to its enemies, or do less than your share to support and maintain it. If you do any of those things, you don't deserve to be a citizen of your country or any country, because you are all those bad and evil things that "sorry" means, and a lot more besides!

And that is equally true for Americans and Russians and Afghanis and Iraqis and, yes, French people and North Koreans as well!

God Bless America!

John Lindorfer
